A café can be beautiful, serve excellent coffee and still feel wrong when you arrive with a dog. The difference is rarely a water bowl at the door. It is usually space, attitude and a little thoughtfulness from everyone involved.
Pick the right table
A corner or wall-side table gives your dog a natural place to settle without sitting in the flow of people. If there is a terrace, choose shade over spectacle. The best seat is the one where your dog can switch off.
Make settling easy
We carry something familiar for Coco to lie on. It can be as simple as a folded scarf or small mat. The cue is useful: this is the place to rest while the humans stay for a while.
Read the room
A busy brunch rush is different from a quiet afternoon coffee. If your dog is restless, choose the calmer hour. If the tables are close together, keep the lead short. If another dog is already settled nearby, give both of them space.
Room beneath the table, relaxed staff, sensible spacing, easy access to water and an atmosphere that does not feel precious about four paws.
Stay considerate
Good dog-friendly culture is reciprocal. We want more beautiful places to welcome dogs, which means leaving them with a reason to keep saying yes. A calm dog, a clean table area and a warm thank you go further than we sometimes realise.
